Depression Among Teenagers

(And for everybody else too)

Depression among teenagers is actually more common than believed. Many teens will not share their feelings with their peers or parents out of fear of being judged or fear the stigma of having to see a therapist. Also many parents just don’t have the financial means to help their teens.

Another danger of depression among teenagers is they may choose to self medicate with illegal drugs, This may temporarily help, but the long term effects most likely will be disastrous not only for the teen but for the entire family.

    Symptoms of severe depression:

  • Loss of interest in school studies and lowering grades.
  • Loss of interest in hobbies and sports or a loss of pleasure with activities.
  • Loss of interest in social activities.
  • Self isolation, sleeping long hours.
  • Not keeping oneself clean or bathing regularly.
  • Loss of appetite is most common, though a few may start to overeat.
  • Poor concentration or memory.
  • Thoughts of death or suicide.

Science incorrectly blames depression on hormonal and chemical imbalances within the brain. I’m not saying that this does not occur, but it is more of an egg or the hen question. I have come to see that emotions are what effect the body n mind’s chemistry. Take care of the emotions and the body n mind heal naturally.

Medicating only works for as long as the prescription doesn’t run out and it does not get to the emotional roots. Its temporary and could be useful in emergency situations.

Causes of Clinical Depression:

Depression is not like a primary color, it takes several primary colors or a combination of primary emotions to cause depression. These issues can be within one’s life’s experiences and it can also be inherited from your family tree. Nobody wants to be depressed. Blaming or telling somebody to snap out of it, will only make things worse.

  • Helplessness.
  • Hopelessness.
  • Lack of control.
  • Out of control.
  • Lack of acceptance.
  • Unworthiness.
  • A sense of loss

Self Help for Clinical Depression:

Like mixing the colors yellow and blue to get green, mixing the above emotions will get depression among teenagers or anybody else.

My preferred tool is Inner Influencing and every aspect or occurrences of every one of these primary emotions need to be resolved. This takes some time and patience but teenagers respond much faster than older adults.

For the price of less than one session with a psychotherapist or a doctor’s visit and a prescription for an anti-depressant, you could begin to turn down the knob on depression.

But not only that, the results gained could positively improve your life in ways you never imagined. In addition the results of Inner Influencing being used properly are permanent. You could essentially “immunize” yourself against depression.
